Biolite Headlamp 330 Review

In this review the item was free and I get a commission for sales from the link in the blog but you will pay the same price as you would otherwise.  Thankyou for helping to support the site.

The Biolite 330 Headlamp is a super lightweight and thin headlamp with multiple lighting options and up to 40 hour battery life. It has a simple one button approach giving you the options of a flood or beam ( or both) as well as strobe and red nightlight. You can also adjust the intensity of these settings. At full power it still gives you over 3 hours of light and with a slim compact design its very comfortable on your head. With a sweat wicking headband and pricetag under $60 you will struggle to find better specs for a lower price.

Full Review

Whether I’m hiking, running or camping I always take two headlamps. Whether you are looking for a reliable backup headlamp or a main the options provided by Biolite meet your needs. Although I tested the 330 lumen which was perfectly adequate they also do a mega bright 750 lumen version Id like to test in the future.

Light

The Biolite 330 comes with a spot or flood option and you can combine these for maximum output. You can also adjust the brightness with the press and hold of the button as well. The red light option gives you enough light to see in camp without ruining your night vision and the strobe option gives you an extra layer of safety in an emergency if you want to attract attention.

Comfort

At 68g this headlamp weighs nothing. Its incredibly comfortable to wear and you forget you are wearing it. You can also adjust the angle of the lamp on your head so that the light hits exactly at the angle you want it.

Battery Life

I gave it a beating in testing and found on the lowest setting it lasted just over 24 hours in cold conditions. On full beam max power it lasted over 3 hours and I found that recharging only took about an hour.

Gripes

About Biolite

BioLite is on a mission to bring Energy Everywhereâ„¢ with revolutionary products that transform the way we Cook, Charge and Light our lives off the grid. We are a team of engineers and designers, operators and analysts, story tellers and evangelists, who believe that advanced technologies, built on sustainable business practices, have the power to change the world. Our unique Parallel Innovation business model pairs the needs of families living in energy poverty with the passions of outdoor enthusiasts pushing the boundaries of life outdoors and on the go.

Our founders, Jonathan and Alec, met at Smart Design in New York City where they quickly bonded over their interest in sustainable design. Alec, frustrated that almost all efficient camping stoves required fossil fuels, had the idea of a wood-burning stove able to utilize its own thermal energy to improve combustion. Jonathan, an avid camper, quickly brought his engineering background to the table and the two began the design process. Countless nights, weekends, and prototypes later, the BioLite CampStove was born: a portable biomass stove that leveraged thermoelectrics to create a smokeless fire all while charging personal devices.
