Lee-Stuart Evans
I’m an Englishman now living in New Haven in CT USA. A lover of social distancing on trails since long before the facemasks. Flying, Diving and Trails are my passions hence the website domain.
This website is the product of deciding to say yes to everything a few years back. What if being mediocre wasn’t an obstacle with the right mindset and gear and a great group of people around you?
What if you said ‘Im in’ rather than ‘maybe’?
I’ve slept in a Telephone Box and eaten from a bin in a race. I also ate 10,000 calories in one day and burnt 10,024 the next day.
Most of my stories are true. I’ll let you decide which aren’t.
Adventures – from -50c to + 50c
I’ve crossed the Sahara in the famous Marathon des Sables and been part of a team to be the first to cross 100 mile long Frozen Lake Khovsghol in Mongolia. I’ve also been lucky enough to be a Rat Race Test Pilot for up and coming races and adventures on their Bucket List Series.
Trail Races
From attempting the UK Wife Carrying Race and Beer mile to running a Centurion 100 mile trail race in 2015 I try and balance the insane distance with insane fun. I once unintentionally qualified for the World Obstacle Race Championships in Canada to represent team UK and hold a 1186th world ranking.
Fastest Known Times
I currently hold rather a lot of trail records, most by accident, some from purpose. From 625 miles in the UK I was also the first person to ever through hike the 225 mile New England Trail.

I’ve followed in the footsteps of a King in the UK and the footsteps of a Pauper in the USA raising nearly £5000 for charity with two fastest known times totally nearly 1000 miles.
Challenges
From crossing the Sahara desert to the Frozen wastes of beautiful Mongolia. I also love a ‘micro adventure’ you can do in a day such as running a 5k on the shifting sands of Goodwin Sands in the middle of the English Channel or eating 10,000 calories in a day and running 78 miles the next day to burn off 10,000 calories.
I’ve also settled the debate as to which is faster , a beer marathon or a wine marathon.
TEDx and Guest Speaker
What if you did a talk on being prepared before an event to make sure it goes as smoothly as possible and then during the talk something goes wrong? The sweet sweet irony of my TEDx talk will forever be online.
I’ve also been a guest speaker at the Marathon des Sables Expo in London, presented a talk on ‘Being an Expert in Failure’ in London and talked about my experiences on the Monarch’s Way and Charles II to group of enthusiasts at the Royal Oak Pub ( where Charles II sought refuge on the run from Cromwell). I was also a guest speaker on the Campfire Stage at the Love Trails Festival in 2018.
Outdoor Gear Reviews and Informative Articles
Outdoor gear is expensive and some of it is expensive and terrible. My reviews do what they can to steer you clear of rubbish and buy well made long lasting gear that works. Gear I use daily. You wont see me endorsing something on Instagram because I’m being paid. If I’m raving about gear on this blog you’ll find endless pics of me using it myself online. I stand by what I endorse.
I also write useful guides on long distance running gear kit lists, wild and stealth camping or how to survive on 16,000 calories for a week in the desert.

Technical Diving
I’ve been a Diver since 1994 and a Rebreather Diver for over ten years. I’ve been lucky enough to dive all round the world including my personal favourite place Egypts Red Sea.
Private Pilot
I’ve had a private pilots license since 2007. I never fly enough. I will never fly enough.
If I had one hashtag it would be #NotAnAthlete
Walk on Water
I am probably the only person to run a 5k in the middle of the sea, a marathon on a pier and an ultra across a lake so have the unusual claim to be the leading authority on running races on water.
Fundraising
One of my record runs raised £4000 towards a Hampshire Scout Project to build a Medical Centre in Itete in Tanzania in 2012.
In 2018 I raised £4000 to provide signage and support for the Monarch’s Way Association to help keep a historic path open for all for free.
I have also raised money for mental health charities, terminally ill children and offer my time for free as a tutor in the USA.
My Blog
It started as a kind of personal diary for a fat guy that controls his weight by running who ended up averaging 2500 miles per year, but became a cathartic place to put down my heavily opinionated and sometimes ‘annoyingly right’ opinions on equipment gear and tactics on outdoor adventures. My guide blogs and kit reviews are aimed at people who want advice when they start to wander out into the great outdoors to see whats there.
Every year I’m more curious, every year I set new goals I’m not sure I can quite pull off, sometimes I get away with it, many times I don’t.
Every year I become more and more of an expert in failure.
Say Yes to Everything .
