The Voited Poncho is a better alternative to a waterproof jacket. By being a roomier fit you have the ability to keep your backpack dry as well as you. The adjustable sleeves and metal rimmed wide hood mean you can use this as a shelter and wear a helmet with it if cycling. The poncho packs up small and has a useful zipped kangaroo pouch. I also liked the ‘camo’ wetlands option to help me hide more when stealth camping or hunting.
In Depth Review
Even among my friends that spend a lot of time outdoors I find that one of the most overlooked pieces of kit for the outdoors is a poncho. If you rely on a waterproof jacket alone you are missing out. Ponchos give me the option to keep my backpack dry too in the rain. I’ve also used a poncho in the rain to create a ‘quick and dirty’ shelter to sleep in for a few hours.
Fabric
The fabric is a 50D nylon with a high waterproof rating and taped seams to keep the rain out. One of the reasons I prefer a poncho to a rain jacket is that there isn’t actually such a thing as a waterproof AND breathable jacket.
You will still get clammy in a jacket because it is close fitting. With the Voited Poncho its roomy fit means that you have a large amount of billowing and moving fabric which helps push moisture away from you and gives you a less clammy experience compared to jackets.
Things that will make you smile
I love the kangaroo pouch on the front that is zipped. You can leave important items, food and maps here so you can get to them easily. There is also a set of velcro loops on the back of the pouch when the poncho is packed away so that you can attach it to the outside of your pack or even to your belt.
I also liked the wire rimmed part to the hood to help keep the rain off your face and the fact that the hood is large enough to allow space for a helmet too if you are riding a bike.
Gimme Shelter
The poncho is large enough to convert into a small shelter. I do some stealth or wild camping each year so I was pleased that they have a low visibility color option ( wetlands) so that I can hide easily. I use a small amount of paracord or my trekking poles to make the poncho into a small tent.
Pockety
The poncho also has two zipped pockets when being used that enters a huge front compartment. This is perfect for tucking your hands if they get cold in the rain.

Did you really try this poncho out in a good rain for 30 minutes or more? It is not at all what it promises. My wife was soaked. We both just through these ponchos in the trash.
i found it to be very waterproof. Often when you are out in the rain you can confuse sweat build up with being wet from the rain too. also I suspect you threw them in the trash not through them.
