Biolite CampStove 2+ Review

Biolite CampStove +2 Review

The Biolite CampStove +2 gives you a smokeless efficient camp stove combined with an integrated electrical fan that allows you to adjust the rate of burn. A central metal rod near the top also converts heat energy into electricity allowing the stove to easily power an included LED light, recharge an integrated 3200mhA power pack AND use a USB cable to recharge electrical items like headlamps and phones while out on the trail. The Biolite Campstove will be a huge hit with Thru Hikers and people out on multi day adventures in the woods where they cant always rely on sunlight and solar power. Zenbivy Lite 10 Review

ZENBIVY Light Bed 10° Review

The Zenbivy Light is a modular system that combines a mattress with a quilt. By using a unique extra sheet layer you also get a warm baffled shoulder area and hood and integrated pillow that gives you the flexibility to use this like a quilt or use the clips to turn the system into a super warm sleeping bag with an integral mattress. Zenbivy is unique in the sleep systems that I’ve tested because it provides the most comfort for those of us that sleep on our sides or suffer from the cold and discomfort. With the extra space to turn without getting twisted up in a sleeping bag you’ll get the closest to an outdoor bed for less than 4lbs packed down. Continue reading ZENBIVY Light Bed 10° Review

EXPED Mega Sleep DUO 25 Review

Exped Megasleep Duo Sleeping Bag Review

The Exped Megasleep Duo sleeping bag is 4 options in one versatile sleeping bag. You have the option to snuggle up with two of you ( with the obvious savings in weight and shared warmth) or use it as a warmer sleeping bag for one when folded and rezipped. The ‘dark and light’ sides also allow you to tailor your warmth level between Spring and Summer. The Megasleep Duo also opens up as a full blanket to use round camp or as an above or below duvet when using a hammock. Continue reading Exped Megasleep Duo Sleeping Bag Review

Katabatic Bristlecone Bivy Review

Katabatic Bristlecone Bivy Review

The Katabatic Bristlecone Bivy is an ultra light stripped down solution to sleeping dry and comfortable in a sleeping bag without the weight and bulk of a full tent. For just 7 oz you get protection from the damp and condensation when sleeping out in the open or under a simple tarp. Its also useful in very damp cold conditions when condensation can form on the inside of a tent to help keep your sleeping bag etc dry. With enough room to store your bag and a useful bug proof mesh area to protect you from bugs the Bristlecone Bivy does a superb job for emergency or ad hoc ‘quickie camping’. I would make this an essential piece of kit for multi day Fastest Known Time Trail record attempts too. Continue reading Katabatic Bristlecone Bivy Review
