Full In Depth Review

When you think about it its amazing that its taken this long for someone to personalize headlamps and make them stand out from the usual ‘black headlamp black band’ crowd. With some careful thinking about the strap being removeable and the design process to give you a huge choice of color combinations its clear there is a passion at Third Eye for standing out from the crowd.

Controls

There are two simple to use control buttons on top. One turns the powerful CREE cell on and also with short taps allows you to change brightness modes and turn the strobe on. The other sets the red light which can stay constant ( good for keeping together in a group moving at night) or strobe which is good for emergencies.

Light Up the World

CREE cells are a special type of LED bulb. Think of them a bit like LEDs on steroids. They push out way more brightness and use less power. They can also create more heat but I didn’t notice this as an issue when I tested this lamp. For brightness I felt this was comparable to about a 300 lumen LED headlamp for brightness.

Power

There is no USB socket on this headlamp. They are powered by 3 AAA batteries giving the headlamp up to 130 hours of burn time on low and an impressive 30 hours on full power.

Waterproof

The Third Eye headlamps are rated waterproof down to 1.5m so they are good in any heavy rain storm or being dropped in a stream or puddle.

Over A Hundred Color and Band Combinations

There are a wide variety of housing and head strap combinations giving you over a 100 different ways you can have this headlamp. I also LOVE that the head strap can be removed and washed because mine tend to stink after a day on the trail.

Third Eye use all recycled materials in the packaging and headlamp itself. They also make a 1% donation with every sale to organizations working to make the world a better place.

Gripes

For the price there are some superb specs here. I cant help but feel I would like to see a USB chargeable option and diffuse light / spotlight combo options on the headlamp even if it meant paying a little bit more.
