This guide will give you everything you need to enjoy this trail including parking, pictures, gpx files and videos as well as some background history and hints and tips.
Speedy Summary
This trail is only 0.4 miles long and is described as a stand alone trail in its own right as part of the CFPA Blue Blaze Series. The rocky and wooded shady ascent takes you steeply up to a stunning viewpoint with great views.
Short and Sweet
There is not a lot to talk about here as this may well be the shortest stand alone trail on the CFPA Blue Blaze Series. The trail shares the same car park as the Scovill Loop Trails and has a superb viewpoint at the top where you can see the Connecticut River in the distance.
Disused Quarry
The trail follows the route of a disused quarry from the 19th Century and is a steady climb up to the viewpoint. Its mainly shaded in the woods but quite exposed at the top section. You will need bug spray in the Summer months too!
Shona and I also set a Fastest Known Time on this trail.
Verdict
This is a great little out and back to add if you are already visiting the Scovill Loop Trails as they share the same car park. Its quite steep and overgrown so would need care if you were doing this on an icy or wet day.
