The Leorever Performance Compression Ankle Tight are full length running leggings made from a very breathable microfibre blend with 4 way stretch. They have light compression to assist muscles during and after workout and superb comfort and tailoring from this mens Californian clothing boutique.
Leorever Compression Tights – Full Review
In the winter my legs get cold so I need leggings or tights on when I’m out on trails running. Although its warm in the Summer when I’m running I usually still wear tights to protect my legs from thorns and ticks on trail too. I’ve already reviewed the impressive Palisade Train Jacket, Shorts and Pants from Leorever here so I was keen to test Leorevers compression tights too.
Fabric
The fabric is a blend of microfibre and spandex which gives the garments huge amounts of 4 way stretch but also a high amount of breathability when doing sports. The stitching is flatlocked and comfortable and has stretch in it too so the threads don’t pull away and unravel after a few washes.
Leorever Tights – Fit
The leggings are very comfortable and have a wide waistband so you don’t find they roll down or dig in when wearing them. I’d also say the length is on the generous side so if you are above average height you wont find these to be too short.
Features
Athletic compression can help with muscle stability and recovery. I have used compression on very long distance runs and find it is particularly effective for me on my calves to reduce fatigue and soreness. Compared to some of the other sports brands that make compression gear I would say these have a very light level of compression.
Gripes
I have little to critique here. They are extremely comfortable ( I tried them out on an 18 mile trail run) . My only observation is that it would be nice to see a small discrete zip pocket at the rear waistband for keys or even cellphone as the leggings have no pockets at all.
Closest Competitors
Its easy to list off a load of brands that make compression leggings but nothing really compares to the approach that Jonathan takes with these leggings. His background in fashion shows here and where lots of leggings provide comfort and compression these stand out for being so flattering as much as they are functional.
Verdict
The Leorever Mens Performance Compression Ankle Tight walks the line between a functional mens legging, a sports compression product and a level of sartorial panache that’s often missing in mens sportswear. We live in a world of ‘sports inspired’ streetwear and clothing and sports clothing that makes you look a hot mess.
These leggings manage to do both flawlessly with superb tailoring, breathable stretchy comfortable fabric and a wide choice of colors. I’m unlikely to ever wear these for anything other than sport but on those times when I find myself out for an unexpected beer directly after a run I’m now going to look more batman than fatman thanks to Jonathan Eo.
PURCHASE $125About Leorever
Founder Jonathan Oe decided to go out on his own, and started a company representing U.S. brands in Japan. He soon met the CEO of Gilda Marx Industries, one of the world’s leaders in the leotard business. I went to work for Gilda Marx and built a division for the company in Japan. He loved this business, of reshaping a woman’s self image through spandex, and he was very good at it, shattering company sales records and opening direct business into major Japanese retailers. But within a few years, aerobics would fade away, and so did the business for Gilda Marx in the United States. So he moved back to California, and started again…
For men, I sensed a void – there was no sense of direction or guidance – we were all in new territory from both a fashion sense and a social sense. We were free to wear whatever we wanted to wear, when ever we wanted to. And that just left us with a sense of chaos and confusion. Baggy basketball shorts and oversized t-shirts, and a baseball cap became what fashion was supposed to be. Men of all ages, sizes and shapes dressed like 5 year olds. And let’s face it – the old uncomfortable structured wool suits were just impractical. “Business Casual” – what in the world was that? Levi’s and a plaid shirt?
I sensed another situation where I felt I could create a physical product and philosophy to respond to a spiritual and social vacuum.
I wanted to create an Oasis for Men who were daring enough to step beyond the comfort zone of the swoosh and the ways other men and women saw the world. I wanted men to value themselves a little more, and have the imagination and drive to go after the life they desired. I wanted to create an aspirational space, where they won’t be judged – a space to dream – and to pursue those dreams. And to understand the depth in that pursuit. Our wealth is in the things we learn, and the skills we acquire on that journey.
This was the World of LEORÊVER – the Dreaming Lion.
