The Deckers X Lab KO-Z Chukka Boots are a mad mix of winter trail boot and smart casual shoe. It shouldn’t be possible to create a boot that’s waterproof and breathable, warm with great trail grip that also works well with jeans in a bar but somehow the guys at Deckers X Lab have managed it without making something ugly. This boot is just at home on the trails as it is in the city so you’ll get plenty of use but deep down I loved them for that fleecy lining.

If you spend a lot of time outdoors you tend to find that when you end up in a bar or ‘civilization’ from time to time you still seem to be dressed you are through hiking a National Trail.
What Decker X Lab have done with these Chukka boots is make me slightly less feral and slightly more acceptable in civil society while still keeping my feet comfy, warm and dry when I’m outside on the trails.
Leather …..lots of it
The uppers on the shoe have a mix of suede and shiny leather finish and in black they look great while being quite understated. The uppers are coated in a repellent finish to keep water out and the seams are also waterproof meaning these will keep your feet dry in everything but actually standing in a puddle on purpose.
Ride Comfort
The Chukka Splashs have a generous amount of cushioning beneath and an 8mm drop from heel to toe. They also feel like they have a lot of support in the arch. They cushioning runs from 30mm to 22mm which is in line with some of the most cushioned running shoes Ive every used.
That Fleecy Lining
There is 3 mm of fuzzy warm wool lining the boots and its like a giant foot hug. I cannot say enough how much of a difference this makes and how much it makes me smile. Its like wearing slippers outside.
Get a Grip
The Chukka Splashs feature a hybrid Vibram sole that is designed to give you some grip on trail but be suitable for urban too.
Fit
These boots come true to size and have a wide toe box for extra comfort around your toes.
