The Vasque Torre AT GTX Hiking boot gives you great grip from Vibram combined with Goretex breathability and waterproofness. With a lightweight overall construction they feel like trail running shoes but with the added security of ankle support. With a smart green suede upper and the option of normal or wide fit you get a high level of bang for buck and a boot that looks as good with jeans in the city as it does out on the trails.

In Depth Review

I have a problem with these boots that I think most will understand. I needed a new pair of outdoor hiking boots for when I go for walks with my baby son and wife and also a waterproof pair to use when I’m in the garden and working on my woodland. The problem I had when testing these boots was they were too nice. They looked too smart with jeans and I wore them so much during the day I didn’t actually want to use them on trails and in the garden.

Grip

The Torre boot comes with a Vibram® Wavelength II Sole with LiteBase Technology, Megagrip Compound and Traction Lug Technology. What this means in regular English is you get a grip that’s good on wet and dry conditions and has lugs that don’t tend to get too clogged with mud.

Uppers

The uppers have a mesh a suede finish. I chose the olive green version but they also come in a light grey version. Beneath the suede is a goretex lining which kept my feet dry even when standing in water. What was a surprise was that wearing them all day didn’t leave my feet feeling clammy like they can in some other waterproof footwear I have.

Fit

Its rare to see companies offering wide fit options so I was pleased to see Vasque do. I found they are true to size even if you wear thick winter socks. If you have wider fit and often order a half size up opt for the wide option instead and stay true to size.
