The Testone Boulder loop seems to be one of the less known trails in the Blue Blaze CFPA series. In fact a search online gave me almost no information about it. The trail starts and finishes at the car park.
We chose to do the loop anti-clockwise which meant we crossed a large stream with a little bridge early on and worked our way round across varies sections of trail that often have small rocks and roots intertwined along it.
Testone Boulder
About half way round is the Dino Testone Boulder, named after a Connecticut mineralogist. It’s a glacial erratic.
As you come to near the end of the loop the trail opens up into a wide field with a windsock in the distance. As a pilot I was confused as to why it looked like an airfield when it was clearly impossible to get an aircraft safely in and out of the area, but when I got home I found out that this area is popular with model aircraft enthusiasts!
