Its the depth of winter that I have to rethink my outdoor trail running clothing the most. Two years ago when I first moved to New England from the UK I went for a run in the winter and got ….a…..um…… part of my body so cold it nearly froze off. As I ran back to my home with my hands down the front of my leggings to keep…my….er….bits …warm I vowed to make sure I always had warmer leggings on in the depth of winter. The Houdini Power Tights would have prevented this ‘man mishap’ and not threatened my fatherhood potential.

Materials

The Houdini tights are made from polartec fleece. Some people might not be familiar with it as a material but I’ve used it a lot when diving in a drysuit in cold Atlantic water. Its popular with divers because its light, breathable and very comfortable to wear and youll agree when you wear it outdoors for sport. What will strike you the most is just how thick but light they are.

Fit

The leggings have a tailored fit so they arent too baggy when worn. I also found they weren’t too long either. The tights have flat locked stitching too making them very comfortable when worn.

Care

If you aren’t used to wearing high tec fabrics I would urge you to be treat these leggings with care if you want the most out of them. I advise washing on low temps and not tumble drying and definitely no fabric conditioner so you can maintain the breathability.

Gripes

I have a small gripe and its not with Houdini but with polartec. I find the outer coating on this fabric isn’t very hard wearing and can bobble and damage easily if not washed inside out or exposed to velcro. It would also be nice for the tights to have at least one small discreet pocket with a zip for your phone and keys.
