The Trippy Outdoors chair is an all wooden camping chair that takes a few seconds to set up. It stows as a ‘mini surfboard’ shape with the leg section flush with the main part of the chair. By simply pushing the leg section through a slot the natural weight and gravity of the two parts hold it together. This comfortable camp chair is a perfect addition to your camping set up when stowing everything in your car and don’t travel far to your camp site. I also used the chair in my classroom and out on my decking at home when relaxing in the evening.

Full Review

So a lot of the gear I review is ultra lightweight and stripped down to the bare minimum to save space and weight for through hikers and adventure racers but sometimes its great to have a bit more comfort in camp. As a search and rescue diver for www.nusar.org I am called to regular training and live exercises so I found these to be the perfect time to test the Trippy Outdoors chair because there are times when I am waiting and not directly involved with the drills.

Construction

Straight out of the box I noticed a little sticker. ‘Built in Texas by Kyle’. The chair looks well built and is bolted together well. There are reinforced metal bracket areas to ensure that the parts under the greatest strain and wear perform well and dont fail.

Choose your design

There are a range of designs on the site to choose from. My came with the Pjortland design. You can even have a plain chair and they also come in two height options.

Heavy Duty

The chair itself weighs in at about 8lbs and will support up to a whopping 1000lbs in weight. When you aren’t sitting in it the ‘strut’ with the seat on it packs away flush against the main board without sliding about so its easy to carry as one board.

About Trippy Outdoors

It was the summer of 2021, and we were sick of the indoors. So the instant the lockdowns loosened, we grabbed our bikes, paddles, and bags, and hit the road. From the dunes of Oregon to the soaring San Juans and the open skies of Utah and Montana, we finally felt again what it was like to be far out with people we loved.

The fresh air got to our heads. At a lab in north Texas, we got together and plastered three walls of a conference room with product ideas with a singular goal: help people get right outside. The standout? A radically portable outdoor chair, inspired by ancient concepts from Scandinavia and Africa. In 3 months, we built prototypes and an entire production floor. On January 27th, 2022, we launched.
