The Kuhl Radikl Outsider Pants are the ‘extra features version’ of the original Radikl Pant I reviewed here. On top of the normal Radikl features of a lightweight and durable pair of pants with special stretch panels for extra comfort and ‘give’ around the leg and joints areas it also has seven pockets ( including thigh zipper ones that avoid ‘that cargo pant look’ and a wide comfortable waistband these are just as useful on the trail as they are in a workshop. The bonus with the Outsider pant is the waterproof dyna waxed finish, adjustable leg cuffs to tighten round ankle boots and large zipper pockets on your thighs with a very useful inner pocket to hold smaller items like headphone cases within a larger pocket. All in all if you spend more time outside than inside I would say the Outsider version is worth the extra money.
In this review the item was free and I get a commission for sales from the link in the blog but you will pay the same price as you would otherwise. Thankyou for helping to support the site.
Kuhl Radikl Outsider Pant at a Glance…
- Everything you get on the standard Radikl Pant
- Additional pocket totalling 8 with 3 that have waterproof zips
- zipper mesh side strips to vent heat and sweat
- dynawax waterproof cotton blend fabric to keep out the wind and rain
- worth the extra money compared to the standard Radikl if you spend more time outside than in.
Fabric
The Radikl Outsider Pant is made from a cotton blend with dynawax which makes them windproof and waterproof.
Fit and Colors
There is only one fit option for the Outsider whereas the standard Radikl has a tapered and klassik option. the klassik and the tapered. There are also various options for leg and waist and I found they came in true to size. There is also 4 different color options.
Pockets
These trousers have 8 big pockets (one more than the standard Radikl) which include the set up you would expect from a pair of jeans but with a generous side pocket for an EDC carry knife as well as very large thigh pockets that are zipped that mount on the front rather than the sides so you look less ‘cargo pant geeky’. The three zipped pockets have waterproof rubber zip closings to help with waterproof design.
Comfort and Design
If you look closely you’ll see strips of a stretch fabric along the outer leg and around the knees and groin area to give the pant more stretch where its needed if you are being active in them. I’ve already raved about the articulated design of Kuhls pants in the past and this addition of stretch as well makes these even more comfortable. In addition the Outsider version has zipper strips down the leg to allow you to vent and cool the pants more easily.
Gripes
None. At this price point I’m hard pushed to think of anything I’d change.
