In Depth Review

I didn’t think I needed this bag, but after a week of testing it I’m going to ‘forget’ to send it back to 3v. Its the perfect bag for a weekend away as an airport hand luggage bag, as a ‘grab bag’ for all my stuff when I go out on the trails for the day and want a change of clothes and shoes when I get back to the car and as the sort of bag you take to the gym, or leave at sporting events outside.

Fabric

The 3v Gear Smuggler Adventure Duffel bag is made from a waterproof PVC tarpaulin shell thats lightweight and submarine levels of waterproof. It also has a reinforced 600D polyester base to prevent tearing and rips. As well as grip handles at both ends it can also be used as a makeshift backpack when you need to carry it for more than a few minutes.

Storage Sizes

The 3v Gear Smuggler Duffel bag comes in 3 size choices. I recommend opting for the 45L version if you want to use it for airports, otherwise Id suggest the 60L version which I tried. There is also an 80L version which I think might be overkill for most typical uses.

Zips and Pockets

The Duffel Bag has a useful outside pocket for things like keys, wallet or passport and a huge internal mesh pocket built into the lid/flap for things like wash gear, bug spray etc. The zips on the main compartment have an overlap so that rain wont easily penetrate the bag even if its left outside.

Daisy Chain Mounts

With a nod back to its military ethos this bag has various daisy chain loops for attaching additional gear. There is a similar approach in the 3v Paratus bag I reviewed here.

Closest Contender

I’ve used a 45L Mountain Equipment bag that’s similar for a few years but its double the price of the 3v Smuggler and no better in quality.
