The Wildly Good CoolMax Neck gaiter is a multi function gaiter constructed from a moisture wicking fabric. I tend to use it as a traditional head/ skull cap to sop up sweat in the summer, as a sweat band round my wrist and now in the ‘COVID World’ as a comfortable facemask when Im on and off trails and find myself near other people.

In Depth Review

Even before the COVID outbreak I always included a neck gaiter as a very useful piece of kit when out on trails. Its part of my essential kit list that I blogged about here.

I’ve come to really respect the quality of the socks made by Wildly Good and have a separate review here as well as including them in my best recommendations for socks for trail here.

Material

The Neck Gaiter is made from CoolMax material which has a large amount of stretch to it as well as doing a great job of wicking sweat away from your skin. It also washes and tumble dries well at high temperatures which means its easy to eliminate ‘ that smell’ from a hard day on the trail.

Fit

The Neck Gaiters come in a one size fits all ( made possible because of the stretch) and a choice of two colors between red or black.

Mop up the Sweat

The material wicks sweat well, and I tend to use it as a skullcap, or headband when running on humid trails. I often also use it on my wrist doubled up as a sweatband and in the winter wear it as a lightweight scarf to help keep me warm.

The Neck Gaiter and COVID

Lets be clear, the neck gaiter isn’t a medical grade mask. Although I usually remember to bring a mask with me when Im out and about I actually have forgotten one a few times when Ive been out on trails and visited a Tap House or similar to enjoy a post trail beer. On these occasions its useful to have the neck gaiter handy and be able to use it as a face mask.
