When it comes to camping gear and selecting the right kit for the right trip I tend to focus less on the lightest or smallest packing gear and think more about camping configurations that give me lots of different options should conditions change unexpectedly. What’s instantly appealing to me about the Mega Sleep Duo is that it can be configured to help keep my wife warm when we are camping together ( by having a me powered heater next to her) but also an item that can act as a camp blanket, hammock liner or duvet and a warmer sleeping bag for one if the overnight temperatures are lower than expected.
Materials
The Duo Sleeping Bag is made from a ripstop nylon and filled with a lightweight synthetic filling. It has a wraparound zipper to make it easy to convert from sleeping bag to flat blanket.
DUO
In its ‘Duo’ mode you have a sleeping bag that is big enough for two. The shared warmth and saving in weight is an obvious instant benefit. I also noticed that EXPED do a Duo sleeping pad too to fit this sleeping bag.
Uno
In ‘uno’ mode you can double up the bag to have a sleeping bag with two layers above and below or even at a push I can see it possible to sleep on 3 layers if youve not brought a sleeping pad with you.
Spring
For colder nights you should have the dark blue side up giving you more insulation above you.
Summer
For warmer nights you can have the lighter blue upwards to give you a bit more padding.
Gripes
Its a minor thing but it would be great if a few extra poppers or loops were added so that I can convert this into a poncho as well.
